In Memoriam : Joey Ramone

The Ramones may have possessed severely limited musical
ability but they hold a place in rock history as the trailblazing
punk rock band, and Joey Ramone, who died Sunday of
lymphoma, was the point man.

Ramone, born Jeffrey Hyman in Queens in 1951, became
lead singer only after it became obvious that he lacked the
talent to be a drummer.

But it was a lucky move for both the Ramones and the punkers
who would follow them, like the Sex Pistols and the Clash.
Despite a devoted cult following, the Ramones never managed
to crack the Top 40. (www.wired.com/)
