Knee deep in some more do it yourself house repairs at the moment. When removing all wallpaper I found lotsa cracks and holes that need filling. Doing that right now. And securely finishing off the plaster around the new windows. I'll see if I can shoot some pictures and perhaps post a few.

Saw my fifth NIN concert last wednesday. In Paradiso in Amsterdam. As usual it ruled. Maybe a few more songs I'd heard before, but still enough stuff that wasn't frequently played before. And two new songs off course. I'll add a list of the setlist - even if it's just for myself - and add 'em here later on.
The trip towards Amsterdam was by train (until Lier) and then by car, thanks to our friendly driver Adriaan. Fokke was up early (for him, late for normal people) and in a very sarcastic mood. Heard a rant which lasted about 12 minutes, including nearly throwing the Humo through the window, just for mentioning the winners of Humo's Pop Poll. Granted, those winners seem to be the same people each and every fucking year ! It must be rigged somehow. Perhaps write about something and someone else instead of always the same people ? Who coincidentally seem to win afterwards.
As I had never been to Amsterdam - been to a lot of places in Holland, but never to their drug-capital - it was a welcome surprise. Clean, bright, friendly people, lotsa scenic places, great cafés and restaurants (the asian foodplace was perfect) and a few "toyshops for adults". No, nothing with parts that need to be inserted in human orrifices, you sicko's. Real toys ... comic books, figurines, statues ... Fokke had to satisfy his needs for new Iron Man paraphenalia.
The venue Paradiso was nice. A combination between Paris' Olympia and Brussel's Ancienne Belgique. Too bad you have to buy an extra ticket (3 euro - valid for a month) just to get in the concerthall. Never mind you have a ticket for the show, you have to get the extra ticket as well. The excuse was that it's for insurance, and some sort of temporary membership ... I don't care. It's just 3 euro you're stealing out of my pocket. If I should ever decide to go back to Paradiso, I'll add the cost of the 3 euro in advance ... should another venue be cheaper, I just might pass on going to Paradiso.
Anyway, Fokke took some extra shots, so the Nine Inch Nails photoset now includes images from all shows. Some really up close, front and centerstage. Smell the sweat sorta speak.

The past two evenings I have experienced Nine Inch Nails two more times. Both times in Brussels' Ancienne Belgique. Again with other opening songs, a new song "The beginning Of The End" and some old favorites that usually don't get played that much "Mr. Selfdestruct" and "Something I Can Never Have".
It is being written in De Standaard that the sunday-evening concert was an unforgettable experience. I can tell you they are not kidding. And monday-evening wasn't too shabby either. Four gigs done, one to go and I'm already sorry it has to end ... can 't wait for the day they'll announce playing at the Pukkelpop festival. That'll be at least one more show this year. And I'm pretty sure Chokri's already talking on the phone with Trent. Or at least their respective people ar talking to their people.

It has been a bad week for cats. My girlfriend Eden got a phonecall from her mother that her cat had died - furry creature lived with her mother as her own apartment has to be kept pet free. Belgian blogger Bruno (volume 12) announced the passing of his own cat Macon (had to be put to sleep due to old age) and famous airborne cats phenomenom Junku announced the death of most people's favorite Hime - who died in the car while driving back from the hospital. Losing a pet sucks. Been there a few times before. Some may think it's silly, but it truly is losing a member of your family. Hang in there, all of you.
I tell ya people, I'm lucky to have two cats ... Lars, the old yet stable one who still lives with my parents and Trent, the young and insane one who trashes my sofa on a daily basis. Trent got neutered two weeks ago ... somehow I think I should be grateful the surgery wasn't scheduled for this week.

Comedy Casino Cup is ending. Now I can finally write what I already know for a few weeks or months. That Xander De Rycke wins. That Philippe Geubels is a good second and Iwein Segers a strange third one. Until now the program was edited like Philippe would win - showing his best parts and showing weaker parts from the others. And now it shows : they're showing Philippe slipping up a little (too bad about the nerves because he really is good and funny), they're showing the weak points of Iwein's stand up act (not that many jokes, but a huge amount of enthousiasm) ... and they're gonna end it with an uppercut performance from Xander. Wanna bet ? Young, brash and sarcastic. I his home town. Not giving a fuck. And without any nerves to hinder his performance.

Just got back from the first concert of the Heideroosjes their european tour. In order to promote their new cd. As usual in Leuven's finest spot Het Depot. Great gig, kinda loud, nice and long and ending with two songs aided by two cello-players. Which was nice. And yes, they announced they'll be playing the Rock Werchter festival in a few months.
Update : Youtube has a video of a guy standing next to me that climbs the stage and attempts a stagedive. Nothing fancy, he more or less rather seems to fall than really put heart and guts into it and dive wrecklessly.

Jesus, I was bored. So bored and tired I practically stayed away from "them tubes" for a week. Not completely, read a few things after a few days, but still kinda very very very offline - at least for my taste. I took a light break because I needed it. Nothing more.
Noted some interesting things in the last week. That music-stations seemingly only air dumb semi-pornographic videos of black men talking down to women while lipping some moronic lyric about homies and ho's on a programmed and probably ripped off beat. Or monotonous thumping with bleeps while scantilly clad women rub themselves or ride some sort of pole. And teenagers seem to like it. They sure have no taste. No taste whatsoever ...
On the other hand I saw myself on tv last weekend - almost embarrassing - went to a blogmeet in Leuven and got free software from a sponsor, went for a short walk last sunday before the usual sunday-evening meet and greet in The Joker and photoshopped some shots I took there and started sanding the walls in my study before filling the holes. A bit busy, a bit relaxed and quiet. Everyone who is still waiting for a reply on an e-mail will get it during the upcoming weekend. Sorry for the delay.
