Okay, it has been a very slow month on this site. Almost no posts. And no it had nothing to do with me getting older. Just been busy with lots of other things that needed taking care of or that simply needed to be done. Stuff that's not that great to post. And I'm also not a linkdumper as there are enough other sites that provide you all with the daily dose of links and videos. But I'll make it up next month and I'll start by posting a round up of what's been happening the last 4 weeks.
First up some news about the cat. trent's been a busy little one. Growing from merely a handful to a small cat. From around 1 kilogram, to almost 1,8 kilogram. Not that bad as far growth goes. Unfortunately he's also very interested in everything I do. When I'm typing on a keyboard, he wants to walk over it. Or he looks at objects on the screen while sitting on the keyboard. This was seriously cutting in my worktime. So I moved him outta my way, bought him little rubbery balls to play with, a scratching post to climb in and he still decided to start chasing shadows or pieces of paper. What else ? Oh yeah, he's also very into molesting my dracena's. Had to move them to the bedroom to keep 'em alive. And the big yucca's are his next favorite scratching posts. But I managed to get him to leave 'em alone (most of the time). There are some pictures on Flickr in the following set, aptly named Trent.
Next up I have a new cellphone. Finally layed the trusty, six year old Nokia 8810 to rest and started using a Nokia 6060. It's small and has chrome accents and it can be used for talking and text-messaging. Good enough for me. Music-player ? Digital camera ? Video ? No thanks. Just makes it all bulkier so that it doesn't fit in my pantspocket.
And I have been busy searching for and buying an external harddrive to backup my photos. As an extra. I already backup everything on dvds or cds. Got a sweet deal on a 500 Gb MyBook from Western Digital. Yup, that's right, that's half a tera in one simple package. Nicely designed. And in black.
So what's next ? Sunday-nights at The Joker watching and photographing standup comedy. And a special evening when pub-owner Fokke got roasted on his birthday. Roasting being a term used by Comedy Central for a series of shows in which famous people get verbally abused by friends and enemies. The Shatner show is an excellent example. Although I'd like to see the Denis Leary version one day.
And the concerts in Het Depot started again. So far I went to see The Furious Five (eighties hip hop) with opening acts Fatty K (belgian beatbox champ) and The Phillibustas (hiphop crew from my hometown Leuven). The next few months I'll be seeing a lot more bands. Sometimes I think I should be photographing something else as well.

Today's my birthday. Turning 32. Kinda old isn't it ? But it was a good day. Better than a lot of things that happened in this last year. I know I can be a bit too dark in my thoughts but bare with me ... it's not all gloom. A lot has changed for the better lately. And today was a really good day. Not only for the obvious of having sunshine and around 27 degrees celsius, but also for the amount of wishes from friends and family. A phonecall or an e-mail is enough to brighten anyone's day. You don't really need the gifts, the money, the cake ... wishes are enough.
Now before you accuse me of being a mushy wuss, let me warn you : it gets worse. Mainly because I got one of the best gifts ever. An 8 weeks old little black kitten. And I love cats. Had two black ones as a child and teenager and the third one (a brown-black-grey one) still lives with my parents. Basically I've had a cat all my life. And now I have one of my own. Cute, playful, small, friendly and constantly following me around. A very nice, unexpected and thoughtful present. Welcome Trent. I just wished you'd leave my plants alone ...
