Time for some kudos /me thinks. In random order, not in order of importance, so don't get cocky if your name is first or last. Let's start with Pietel who bought himself a Nikon D200 in order to be able to process some shoots quicker than waiting on development. He's a hardcore analog photoshooter, but sometimes the dev-cycle takes too long for him. Enjoy the RAW advantages and disadvantages !
FRaNKy just messaged me that his long awaited Nikon D70s has just been delivered. Welcome to working manually and the urge to "buy more lenses" !
This week fellow concert-go'er Manuel has a picture in Veto (huge pdf-file, be careful). The Heather Nova concert was a joy to do with the tripod, the wealth of lenses and great lighting. No wonder we all got great shots. But the one published is crystalclear. Congrats.
And last but certainly not least Michel and Sandra have a new baby called Anna. The delivery was blogged live two days ago. Pictures on his blog and Flickr-account. Some are a "leedle" too graphic for my taste, but hey, if they're fine with it, who am I to argue ? No one, exactly. Congratulations to both and keep up the funny work on the site. Even if number 4 will be demanding a lot of attention.

A picture from the Sioen set is my fourth addition to the drieduizend site.

Sleep ... sleep ! I need more sleep ! Why the fuck can't I get a decent night of sleep after exhausting myself the whole week ? Took me until the goddamn change to the summerhour until my body decided to close it's eyes. On the other hand I'm almost done with all the pictures I took during the week. Only thing left to do is the Heather Nova set from fridaynight. My god, is she gorgeous. Have a few great ones I think. Paddil and I were fast enough to get backstage afterwards so I had the hance to have a talk with "the little angel from bermuda". She didn't want me to take a portraitshot of her, but I still had a good time. Didn't get the chance to tell her the story about the time I was dared into getting in line for an autograph and ask her to marry me (which I didn't do by the way) and in retrospect that was probably good. Didn't want to look like a creep, did I ?.

This week is just way too busy. Three concertshoots, busy at work and the next day of classes in Brussels (meaning getting up incredibly early and do a two hour trip). Anyway, the Sioen set is done and can be found here. Wednesday-evening Manuel and I went to see Spinvis but due to a no pictures policy we had to be glad with a few hazy shots through the crowd.

Hey guess what ? Picture-time ! Chacda and Sioen each played a set yesterday in Het Stuk under the title "Vadermoord" (fathercide). Known bands and artists cover their favorite band or artist. Chacda played dEUS and Sioen played Bjork.

Two of my pictures of the Alice Russell concert were published yesterday in the earlier mentioned Veto newspaper. You can pick up a copy all around Leuven (it's free). You can download the full newspaper from the Veto-site (PDF - watch it, it's 75 Mb big) or only download the first and last page here (PDF - 5 Mb). Or skip the pictures and just read the article here (dutch only).

Went to an Alice Russell concert the day before yesterday. She's a new british soulsensation and I like soul. Real soul that is. Not that affiliated with R&B crap that's played on the radio and MTV. As usual I took some pictures (which can be found here). The last pictures in the set were extra fun to do. The guys from Veto (the biggest weekly studentnewspaper in Leuven) were there but didn't have a photographer with them so Pieter Jelle and I stepped in and took some shots for them. The bundle of bananas Alice is holding was lying around screaming to be held by Alice. As you can see she thought itw as funny. So did we.

Drieduizend has a new picture from me on the homepage. A nightshot of an off-ramp for the beautiful city of Leuven (nothing comes anywhere near that city). I think this picture had an exposuretime of around 30 seconds and as it was at night in the beginning of January, my hands and nose were freezing. There's more of this here.

Just received word from Houser (check out his amazing photographs) that he programmed a tool which lets you search for content on Flickr. You can enter a user-id, a word, name ... whatever and the page fills itself with thumbnails of photos that fit the query. It's amazing. Check it out here.

Shot another concert yesterday. Through Franky (Vendetta) I was asked to cover a gig from Fantoom - a band who tried out for Eurosong. It's truly not my kind of music (too clean, too academic, not enough soul and heart) but why not ? I can always use the practice and the other idea for spending my saturdaynight was being seated in the sofa.
Took some shots of the band after the show. Not nearly enough light anywhere in the hall to make something special of it, so it won't be great. Should get myself an SB-600 or SB-800 soon to bounce the flash of walls or ceilings. Because direct flash is evil.
Later on I was hanging out at the bar with Franky and there was this beautiful girl sitting on a table. The thing that caught my eye the most was that she was wearing a pair of old jeans with big holes on her knees. That's the sorta jeans I love and no one seems to be wearing them anymore. First thing I thought was "I gotta have a picture of her". Remembering the words Pietel said to me, I stepped right up to her and said just that. A little confused she agreed and I took about twenty shots from a few angles. Again without enough light to get them razorsharp but I'm happy with some of them. Look good in black and white as well. We exchanged e-mail-addresses, and if she agrees, I'll post some pictures.

And what do you know ? It helps. First day in a few weeks I felt ok. Just let it all flow out of my mind and become as empty - thoughtwise that is - as possible. Even had a decent amount of hours sleep. Maybe I was numbed down from the utter crap that the televisionscreen started showing this week. No more good series, only reality crap where they put some people without jobs in a glass house and have 'em do silly chores. Anticipating boredom and random copulation no doubt. God and Allah in heaven, why ? This can only mean more time to watch movies, read a few books, go out when the weather's better in a few weeks and maybe some computerprogramming again.
