Nothing special worth mentioning yet. The weather's great, but that ain't something to bother
you guys with. I'll try to sniff up something more important later this week. And that's a promise.
Song of the week : "Sonne" Rammstein
Oldie of the week : "Morregen" Belgian Asociality (old school belgian punk)
Last seen movie : It's still some sort of Hitchcock memorial theme on the local networks. Last weekend I've
seen "Dial M For Murder". An inventive detective-story where the viewer knows more than most of the characters and
in a way you kinda want the evil genius behind everything to get away with it. Very nice late evening viewing.
Doing this week : Let's see ... I've done my taxes, done my accounting, watched all DVD's and video's I have,
organised my files on both home and work computer ... and it's not my turn to clean the house. Ideas anyone ?
Editorial - 27 July 2001
Well, I should be eternally gratefull because temperatures really have gone up and according
to our local weatherman they'll last at least all weekend long. Up to the seaside again !
Editorial - 25 July 2001
Think I'm done sleeping now. Had to take a lot of extra sleep last week and in the weekend.
Don't know why ... haven't done anything extra exhausting. Guess I'm just tired and need that upcoming holiday.
And hey ! Has anyone read my TW 2001 report yet ? It's awfull quiet in my mailbox.
Song of the week : "Always : Your Way" My Vitriol
Oldie of the week : "Molodoļ" Molodoļ (old school french punk)
Last seen movie : It was oldies weekend this weekend on our national television networks. I have seen
"The Longest
Day", "All The President's
Men", "The Thomas Crown
Affair" - the original one with Steve McQueen -
and "Vertigo" from Alfred Hitchcock.
Talk about an overdose of fine stuff ...
"The Longest Day" is like "Saving Private Ryan" : great cast, big scenes, long movie. Sure it's
less impressive once you have seen Ryan, but considering this thing was made in the sixties, it's still a rather
harsh portayal of the facts ...
"All The President's Men" is one of the best political movies ever made - if not the best. Two incredible
actors (Robert Redford and
Dustin Hoffman) in a fascinating story about
the fall of greatness : two beginning journalists who bring down Richard "Tricky Dicky" Nixon. At least
once in your live you'll have to watch this movie and Oliver Stone's "Nixon" (with an incredible Anthony
Hopkins).
"The Thomas Crown Affair" seems a little outdated at times - especially compared to the 1999 remake - due
to the simplicity of the bank-robbery and the weaknesses of the leading lady role (who's supposed to be so tough -
a trait better worked out in the 1999 version). But if you consider - again, but hey we're talking oldies here - the
timeframe in which this movie was made ... very stylish, very surprising and therefor very good.
"Vertigo" is still ranked in the top ten best movies ever made and it's not always clear why. Sure, it's
a good movie and one of Hitchcock's best, but it's not that gripping as I always thought it would be. It starts nice,
but when James Stewart's character wants to convert
Kim Novak into her fake self again things tend to be
unbelievable these days. I don't know any woman who'd wanna pull off a stunt like Kim Novak does and than suddenly starts
acting all mushy and feeble when James Stewart asks her something. That may have worked before the roaring sixties, but
now women are more emancipated (at least my girlfriend is - she'd kick me out the door so fast I wouldn't even feel her
foot hit my backside when I'd ask the things Stewart asks Novak). At least I think she would ...
Doing this week : Hoping the temperature goes up from 20° to 25° Celsius. And that it stays up there.

Okelidokeli ... the ISP switch is done and everything seems to be running smoothly. The
surfing's never been faster here (although speeds at home are still better) and there have been no glitches
worth mentioning. Some of you might be able to see us again, some might not. For those lucky few, there's
an extra editorial with some pictures. Nothing fancy, but you do need to check it.
Franky's hand is visible and mine too ! Woohoo !

Listen up, this is important ...
As of tomorrow we'll be switching ISPs. This off course means that our IP-address will change. Normally that
wouldn't be much of a problem since we'd simply switch that address in the nameserver. But this webserver
is located in the same building as the nameserver and both servers are switching
their IP-address.
Quoting Blink 182 : "Dammit"
There'll probably be problems accessing the site and sending mails to us
but in a few days everything should
revert to normal and access should improve big time since the bandwidth
surely will. In the meantime I'd like to qoute two more song
and bid you a nice goodbye for now.
The two songs to be quoted : "Patience" (Guns n' Roses) and "Have A Little Faith In Me" (John Hiatt).

Okay people ... this is it ... Napster is dead. No doubt about it. According to an article on
The Register they're gonna use their
own fileformat (.nap) which would include the "dreaded" license per user. Any MP3 you'd wanna share via Napster would
first be converted to the .nap format. And downloaded naps would need to be activated by paying for them or you couldn't
listen to them or download them. Who in their right mind would do that ? Then you'd just pay for the
full cd ...
Interesting question remains : What will Shawn Fanning do now his fortune will be gone in a matter of
weeks ? Go
back to college ?
That could prove to be very very hard for him since he spoke these fine
words : "Even when we were at odds with Metallica, we always understood that they had the best interests of
artists in mind."
Boy oh boy, will he be kicked around by his roommates for that ...

Got a nice e-mail today, containing the JSP-sourcecode of all the pages from the new website
from one the competitors of the company I work for. Seems there might be a joint project in the works and one of our
advisors asked to see the new forms that would be used later on. So instead of giving us some screenshots or a link
to the new pages ... they sent the jsp-files including the comment : "You can view these in your browser". Which off
course you cannot unless you rename them to .html and then you could see something, but still wouldn't get the proper
layout. Must be real geniusses over there. Anywayz ... thanks for the code ...
Song of the week : "Rock Show" Blink 182
Oldie of the week : "Natural Woman" Aretha Franklin
Last seen movie : "Shrek" : funny, but not hilarious as some had me believe. But after years of nice lovingly
Disney creatures who never lie, don't fart, be nice to others ... it's refreshing to see this character burp, fart
and light up his earwax ... well euhmm ... actually I just wanted to say that after all it's a good movie to see.
Especially since it's raining.
Next up on my viewing list was "The Great
Escape". Taped it fridaynight, watched it sunday afternoon. It's
a beautiful story about a huge jailbreak during
World War II. A true story too. Filled with great actors as Steve McQueen,
Richard
Attenborough, Charles
Bronson, Donald
Pleasance ... all of them in their prime years ...
Doing this week : Remembering the days when I still had a DVD player ... before Worf reclaimed his property ...

Hey ! Good news everybody ! From 2002 on, every new car in Europe will have the "Daytime Running
Lights" system, which basically means that when you start your car, the lights go on. Yes, even during the day ! Whoopee !
And why will this become the defacto standard in Europe ? Because it would improve road safety for pedestrians and bikers -
of which about 9000 are killed and 200000 are injured each year.
Yep ... I gotta hand it to the geniuses who invented this idea ... Pedestrians and bikers will be safer. They can see the
cars now because the lights will be burning during the fully-lit-sky-due-to-big-bright-sun days. Gee whiz ... ain't that
something ?
At least now the cars can hit them with the lights on. Easier to aim and target ...

Come back soon ? Maybe I'll write something tonite if I can get "me lazy bumm" away from the
television set. used my lunchbreak today to surf around a bit instead of writing something for you guys. Sorry, hehehe.
Song of the week : "Schism" Tool
Oldie of the week : "Our House" Madness
Last seen movie : Check this one out for size ... seen 2 oldies this weekend :
"Where Eagles Dare" and
"Bullitt". The first one is an old war epos including
numerous plot twists and a cool as ever Clint Eastwood
and "Bullitt" features Steve McQueen - cooler than
Clint - and the biggest baddest car chase ever filmed - 180 km/h through san Francisco, partly driven by the actors
themselves. Can't help but wonder what the insurance companies would have to say about that sorta stuff nowdays ?).
Doing this week : Finally doing that TW 2001 report ?
Editorial - 3 July 2001
A new month ... new entries in the editorials section. And a new short
homepage without a months full of me shooting my mouth off ...
Song of the week : "Special K" Placebo
Oldie of the week : "Screamager" Therapy?
Last seen movie : Nothing in the theatre - been to TW 2001
this weekend - but I have seen Taxi 2 on DVD (many thanks to
Worf for loaning disc and player). Movie number two is just as funny as the first one.
Doing this week : Probably writing something about TW 2001 due to the enormous BS the newspapers are writing about
it. Were they actually there and awake or are they just making stuff up ?
darkman says sleep tight
