It's my sister's birthday ... not that I couldn't afford an e-card, but this
seemed more appropriate. Oh ... and have you seen our cat lately ? Lars ... the (former) terror
of the block (when she's not asleep).

Franky's back from Canada, but he ain't found no Jolt Cola over there either. Just Coca-Cola,
Pepsi (both regular and diet), Sprte and Seven-Up. What's up with that ? Where's the rest ? They even didn't have
any sparkling water ... a perrier (as that's they only thing they seemed to understand) ... weird ...
Song of the week : Radio ? What is that ? New music ? Huh ?
Oldie of the week : "Planet Of Sound" Pixies
Last seen movie : Pearl
Harbor. Just like I said earlier this month : not exactly historically correct due to a crappy lovestory which
takes up roughly two of the three hours that this thing takes to get to the ending. Sure, there are some hefty
scenes with planes flying around and bombing the sh*t out of "poor helpless americans trapped in big giant boats".
But that ain't totally worth the ordeal of that freaky threesome love triangle. Just remembered something : there
is an extra positive side : a very nice scene in which
Kate Beckinsale comes walking towards the camera in a red dress. All was very quiet then ...
On the historical side : I was a little crass a few lines earlier because it actually was a very sneaky and brutal
attack from the Japanse upon the americans soldiers, but like the movie in a very subtle way tries to imply - we
get the American version in Europe, it's probably more firmly stressed in the Japanse version - there was not much
else "the Japs" could do. Conclusions : the attack was terrifying but not completely unprovoked and
therefor strategically brilliant. Which doesn't make it right off course, but neither was dropping the big one on
Hirosjima and Nagasaki ...
Conclusion : the movie sucks as a lovestory (unless you're a soft little sap), but rules while watching the action
scenes ... now you choose ...
Doing this week : Enjoying the sun as much as I can. It's a glorious 25 degrees Celsius right now and it's going
to be even warmer later this week. Gotta keep them Ice Tea cans ice-cold.

I have given the editorials their own subdirectory. This meant moving
links to other pages, pictures and the works. I'd like to apologise in advance for any broken links you might encounter
while I debug the changes. "Physician, know thyself !"

Hey Franky ! When you read this on the other side of that big pond between Europe and Canada ...
if you see any Jolt Cola lying around, get me some, okay ? One bottle will do fine. But more is always appreciated.
Song of the week : Haven't heard anything worth mentioning yet
Oldie of the week : "Something I Can Never Have" Nine Inch Nails
Last seen movie : Nothing, but I did buy "Snatch"
and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" on DVD this
weekend. Hey, they were on sale in the local warehouse. I'm a sucker for cheap sales and bargains ... just hopeless.
Doing this week : With this rainy weather outside I don't think I'll be in the mood for much.

Well, it's almost two in the morning and I just got back from a birthdayparty for Geronimo,
a friend of mine. At a certain moment there were 19 people walking around the place. Not so bad if you consider
that it just used to be the three of us several years ago. Geronimo, Worf and me.
I do miss my girlfriend ... she's in Paris right now. A university field trip. Yeah, that's kinda corny I know,
but hey, this page is mine. I can write whatever I want here. Well, that's it, I'm off to bed ...

George "Dubya" Bush Jr. visited the Nato headquarters (near Brussels Belgium)
yesterday. The city seemed under siege. All them policemen and secret service agents ... Since I had the day off,
I've been touring around a bit and there were some enormous holes in the security easy to be found.
Misses Bush visited Leuven and was easily approachable and there was at least one access road to the Nato that
wasn't heavily guarded. If I had been a terrorist group I could've done something. Really, those secret agents
actually forgot one mayor access route. Unbelievable ...
Anyway ... some more news about the DVD prices can be found
here. Who said that the European Union wouldn't work ?
Editorial - 11 June 2001
Just before leaving to Canada, Franky saw this nice little feature on Slashdot. But instead of
letting you read their usual "open source is better because its better" jibberish, I'm getting right to the source of
this news-item : the BBC website. It's something gripping about unusually
high DVD prices in Europe and questions about the real reasons for the zoning system. Hollywood is in for a
treat if you ask me.
Song of the week : "Hash Pipe" Weezer
Oldie of the week : "The Weeping Song" Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - seen 'em live yesterday-evening in Leuven.
Last seen movie : Nothing - skipped the weekly trip to the theatre.
Doing this week : June is the month in which about 65% of my family and 50% of my friends have their birthday.
So I'll be cruising around, phoning and or mailing them my best wishes. I'm so glad that I don't have to buy them all
a present 'cause that would definitely ruin my cashflow.

What's up with the disappearing sun ? One minute's here, than it's gone ... damn, I'm freezing my
butt off sitting here in jeans and t-shirt and it's two o'clock in the afternoon. Isn't that supposed to be the warmest
moment of the day ? <weird rant>I'd better put on some socks and I don't like socks in the summer.</weird rant>

Had written this make-homepage-thing for the company-site so why not use it here too ? Keep an eye
out for the ever changing pictures that will be used. Got some nice ones lined up for you all. Here's the first one ...

Update : It's 3 o'clock in the afternoon and the line is fixed. The phone company said that
a hundred pair cable had been severed about 44 meters from the building. They just finished melting the parts together.
On with the usual programming ...
Partly repeat from below : "Oh what a beautiful morning ! Oh what a beautiful day ! The network
is down and not one single packet gets away !"
Yup, it's that time of the year again. BT Ignite (the former British Telecom) started drilling and cracking the pavement
in order to get new cables in and as of 8h53 this morning our leased lines are severed.
Enter Papa Roach : "Cut my cable into pieces ! This was are last resort !"

I'm cleaning up the may editorials later today. Read 'em here while it lasts ... And for now on,
enjoy yet another beautiful screenshot. Got this one out of the logfiles. I check any weird or unknown url that pops up
in my own logfiles. But this site is very hard to visit.
Song of the week : "Wat een jinx is" Brainpower
Oldie of the week : "Slaap Lekker" De Fabeltjeskrant
Last seen movie : "Thirteen Days" : Sometimes even
Kevin Costner can't destroy a good movie. This is one
of them. The true story (include some fiction, it's Hollywood after all) about the Cuba missiles crisis in october 1962.
Gripping story, very powerful acting (Kevin in a good day and Bruce Greenwood as JFK) and as predictable as Titanic and Pearl Harbor because you should know this
story if your history teacher was any good. But this one is the only good movie in that threesome. Why ? 'Cause it ain't
got no dumb love story in it. Just pure history. That should be enough.
Doing this week : Two new tires, a new exhaustpipe and two new brakes : that's what it'll cost to get my trusty car
running like before again. Sure it costs too much, but when you're still driving a seventeen year old Audi 80 that still
kicks ass when the light becomes green ... well, that's gotta be worth something, not ?
Editorial - 1 June 2001
"Oh what a beautiful morning ! Oh what a beautiful day ! Franske Devaere zit in de cel en Brigitta
Callens mag mee !" - Hey everybody, it's a sing-a-long ! Feel free to join in whenever you feel like it ! It's an easy
tune, you must remember it from the early days - "Oh what a beautiful morning ! Oh what a beautiful day ! Redattack is
a scriptkiddee and Brigitta must go away !"
Isn't it just wonderful ? To know that cactus Frans is still too dumb to clear up his tracks when he's "hacking" (and I
use the term very loosly) or maybe he's been set up ? He hasn't done anything wrong, but other people have defaced those
sites and pretended it was him ? Hahahahahaha ! Serves him right for using Windows 95 for his dirty deeds. Or is he using
Windows Me right now ? He obviously has to follow trends, not ? With his chain of clothing and all ...
On the other hand, Brigitta Callens' case is too bad. What will the people from P-Magazine have to come up with now to fill
their "highly classified magazine for all men" ? Well, how about a special about "bad girls in prison" ? Hahahahahaha !
Sorry, I just couldn't help myself again ... aaahh ... our little part of the world must be a better place right now, must
be ...
